I believe that tutor sessions should not consist of me lecturing the whole time. Rather, I like the student to take me though their thoughts on how to tackle a problem, with me guiding them along the way in case they get off track. In fact, I believe it should be the student leading the way with what they already know, while I fill in the blanks.I have a background in chemistry, having graduated from Cal State University, San Marcos, with a degree in chemistry, and am currently working on my master's in chemistry at the University of California-Irvine. While at Cal-Irvine, I worked as a teaching assistant in chemistry laboratory classes, and also worked as a tutor at a STEM tutoring center. Due to my background, my focus is chemistry, though I tutored in math and physics as well as an undergraduate. I am also comfortable tutoring calculus, algebra, and freshman physics. My tutoring experience has typically been with students who are early in their learning process, and I enjoy those who are excited about their learning experience. Away from teaching, I like to read fantasy and science fiction books, as well as play strategy-based board games in my spare time.
