I have experience teaching English to students of varying ages and backgrounds:
• Effectively managed classrooms of varying ethnicities of little to no English-speaking background
• Prepared lesson plans and applied teaching skills to introduce grammar, sentence structure, and language rules
• Developed successful curriculum of reading, writing, speaking, and listening that was adopted by trainers and peers
• Combined basic studies with real-life interactions involving language use in different situations to ease students into culture
When I teach to students, it is unlike anything I have ever been involved in. Normally, I toil away in the labs, handling infinitely small, microscopic organisms while speculating theories that may or may not come to fruition any time soon. But in the classroom, it is incredible watching growth happen right in front of me and, at the same time, unbelievable knowing that I am the source of such development. This sparked the realization that I love working with people in this way, as a mentoring figure which I hope to pursue even more in the future. As a tutor, I will be able to work one-on-one in several subjects and gain invaluable experience while also bettering my teaching abilities.
HobbiesI am an avid basketball enthusiast, interest in poker, playing with photoshop and digital imaging, music buff, and TV shows like "How I Met Your Mother" or "The Office". I'm always smiling, constantly chatting, and love laughing, even at myself.
